There should be three run files already set up. minis.run starts a
steppermod version, minif.run starts a freqmod version, and minip.run
starts a ppmc (Jon Elson board) version.
1 - Try minis.run and tell me what happens. (My guess is that some of the
error messages but not all will go away. (see below)

Steppermod is the active choice in emc.ini.

These two errors are the result of the limit polarity being reversed.
emc.ini expects to have real limit switches connected to the limit pin.
These will go away if you reverse the MIN_LIMIT_SWITCH_POLARITY = 0 and
MAX_... to (1) for all of the axis definitions.

This one bothers me. Are you trying to run as a common user or as root?
3 - You might try running xemc rather than tkemc as see if the result is
different. I don't think that xemc uses emcsh.
