I'm glad that you're back! 
On the archiving, I have always thought that the emc list archives were
pretty good.  I go back through them from time to time.   The archives for
the CAD/CAM/DRO/CNC onelist group seemed to be inaccessable, last time that
I checked.  They might be working on the site, trying to improve it.  Now
that one would be a mess to try extract.  I'm not sure how to go about
getting the EMC info out of it and leaving the other stuff- other than
reading everything again and hand editing.  But, it could be done.

On the K desktop stuff- I installed RH 6.1 and tried both K and Gnome.  It
seems like Gnome is a little more responsive and "snappy" on my machine.  K
seems a little slower to me.  It also seemed to lock up some applications.
I'm going to try the Gnome desktop for a while.
