Hi,
I have been silent for a while, but miss the action. I just have a lot of
other things to sort out at the moment, - sorry.
That said, I am impressed of what you guys have accomplished. ( maybe I just
should stay silent, - it seems you all get more done :)
A few problems:
-----------
I have among other things some email problems, and I have created a mess :)
I just printed out several hundred pages to try to figure out what you all have
been up to.
I miss the CAD_CAM_EDM_DRO list, - many things were a lot easier using the
digests. I miss that.
But I came to think about something. There is a lot of valuable things you all
write, and it is sad to miss parts of it. Fred and Will has also come with a
few program listings, - that may be nice to know about.
The question:
---------
Should there be some sort of achieve at linuxcnc ? Any thoughts about this ?
And something more:
--------------
I have started to use Kmail in KDE ( Paul Corner is to blame :) - no, thanks
Paul ! It is nice, but I have tried to apply different filters, and messed
things up. ( part of the problem )
Like, I tried to put a filter for "Homebrew STG" - very nice to have hardware
topics in one place, GUI in another, etc. So I tried to sort some of the
other folders, and messed up bad.
( from / to is there, but contents is gone. I think I know what error I did )
A note: In fact a "tag" in the heading like "HW " for hardware, as the
beginning of a hardware issue would be nice. "GUI", "BUG", "EMC" ( for will
and Fred - update notes" ) could be very nice. You could expand the list with
"IDEAS", "COMMENTS" ....
One reason for that I started to use Kmail, - is that it looked like the
file formats would be easier to handle with some general "bash" scripts for
sorting/finding stuff. And I would very much like to format things.
Line wrappings, etc.
Anyone with a few tips and tricks, - please come with ideas. Another thing
would be to link things up in a simple format for printouts. Some messages is
just a few lines, - the rest of the printout is blank.
( waste of printer paper )
Some sort of digest would be nice - because it is sometimes easier to have them
"linked" as they arrive. Because of different time zones, etc. They often get
sorted by date, and you have to check back and forth in order to find the some
where a new "thread" started.
Any ideas or comment ? ( at least give the archive stuff some thoughts - I
know you all would hate to miss some of this stuff - with an archive, you could
download and get back what you are looking for. It would be helpfully to any
new subscribers too. )
( If such a thing is already done, then I apologize, I just have not found
it )
Best to all of you - and I hope that I soon may have some time to participate
a bit more.

PS - does anyone know of a filter that could take a HTML file, and convert it
to ascii, - for editing, troff, ps and pdf ? Or similear ?
