Yes, it would be a great idea to check the bios, as it's so easy to do.

The reason I mentioned the paper sticker on the PLD is that they
say it indicates a recent update to it to handle somewhat higher
bus rates. They said there had been problems in the past on
certain old motherboards that clock the bus at 25 MHz/3 or
8.333... MHz, only slightly higher than normal. So things must
 have been right on the edge I guess.
