tell me more about that kernel,where did you get the rtai patch for 
2.4.17 ??
i installed rtlinux 3.1 which latest supported kernel is 2.4.4 but my 
video driver (nvidia) don't want to work with the 2.4.4 kernel (it work 
fine using a 2.4.7 or later kernel),the end result is that i'm not able 
to use emc for now.
