Re: Probing

Ray,

Just an FYI.

I borrowed the code from emcsh.cc to make a standalone
app to talk to EMC via NML.

I tried compiling it from the command line but there are too
many include directives required to link. So I've added it to the makefile
in src/emctask directory. It should then get built during an emc build.
I've called it emcprobe. For now it will take a single command line
argument, "probe.ini". I've included several routines to simplify
reading/writing values out of the .ini file. You should be able to
exec it from an ordinary tcl/tk script (a script without running emcsh in the
prologue)

Before I run make, are there any special considerations in rebuilding emc on
the BDI install? (I'd hate to break something)

Also before I proceed further I am going to take a timeout to backup my
files and install the new BDI version on the machine in the shop. For some
reason it does not see my network. I'd rather develop on my good machine in
my computer room instead of the one in the shop.

After looking over the functionality of emcsh, it looks like the only way
to move across a grid probe pattern is with the jog command, or maybe
tell EMC to execute a g-code file that is created on-the-fly?
