on Slackware you will want to convert the RPMs to .tgz format with
rpm2tgz <file.rpm>
(Outputs "file.tgz")
then they should install OK with installpkg (you may need to hand install)
its kind of a pain ,but the red hat package tools tend to slag the filesystem
on non-RPM based distros
