In the README file with the unofficial patch for rtlinux and the 2.4.16
kernel it gives a work-around for the gcc problems with RedHat. I can't get
at the file at the moment as I've just wiped the machine I had it on but it
says something to the effect of:-
In the kernel Makefile, replace the line...
cc = $(CONTRIB something)gcc with
cc = kgcc
This is to sort a problem with the 2.4.x kernels and does seem to work OK.

I _THINK_ all that is needed on a egcs 2.91.66 using newer libs is the
correct "-L/usr/lib -lstdc++" linker command (plus the "-2-" file(s)).
and/or some creative file renaming and symlinks (plus the "-2-" version
libstdc++ file)
I was able to get rid of all symbol missing errors, but I had also made
too many other 'edits' at that point.
