Re: Printing from BDI

Ray -

I got the floppy setup working, installed the 2 necessary files and
got Linux talking to the printer. However, I've learned that Linux
is trying to communicate to it via Postscript and my HP Laserjet 4P
doesn't understand that. So it seems that there is something called
Ghostscript needed to convert the print stream into something my
printer understands.

I have a Red Hat Linux 7.0 CD set and found 2 Ghostscript rpms on
that and tried to install the first and got errors saying that there
is a dependency problem in that libc.so.6(GLIBC_2.1.3) was needed. I
found libc.so.6 on another of the disks in the set, but didn't know
what to do with it.

Am I on the right track?

Is there a problem because I am using a newer version of Linux to get
these files?

Do you have any suggestions for my next step to be able to print
legibly?

When I bring up the file manager (K - System - File Manager) (there
should be a short cut to get here), I see the home icon you're
talking about.

No, this icon is not on the set of nine or more icons on the bar at
the bottom of my desktop. Should it be? How do I get it there?

If I bring up the KFM and click on its home icon, up comes a window
with one icon on it called desktop. I can't seem to get to
usr/local/emc from here. All I can get to is the same set of icons
that appear on the desktop.

Rushing to get this off before church - hope I didn't make any errors
above. Your and others help is much appreciated.

Jack
