I did not have this error message myself, so I can not comment on that.
I suggestion is try to upgrade to latest CVS and see if your problem goes away.
I am running rtlinux-3.0 on top of kernel 2.2.18 with CVS sources about two
weeks old. I had no problems with this combination. Everything builds fine.

Although I upgraded alot myself from source, my libc is still the one from
RH6.1 with installed rpm upgrades.

Getting the libc version no# is as easy as:
> /lib/libc.so.6
on every linux system I know.
