Yea!  There is a possible overflow that trashes steppermod.  Try freqmod if
you've got a 300+ Mhz machine.

My example

200 ppr motor
2 microsteps per step
3 motor to 1 ball screw rotation
5 ball screw rotations to 1 inch

200 * 5 * 3 * 5 = 6000

with freqmod, I'd use
INPUT_SCALE =                   6000    0
OUTPUT_SCALE =                6000.000 0.000

With steppermod I'd use

INPUT_SCALE =                   6000    0
OUTPUT_SCALE = 1.000 0.000

Wrong backplot.  Look under the view menu.  The backplot in tcl/scripts is
an experimental one written by Paul.  You could move it into
emc/plat/nonrealtime/bin directory and replace the one there and you should
see it work.
