Yes I am using TKEmc - I think it is a much nicer display than XEMC -
provided it is done in a basically grey colour scheme ;o} . I find the
bright blue favoured by some others just too garish.

I did comment to Paul that it would be nice if his Backplot program and the
MDI direct entry appalets could be integrated with the TKEmc GUI. When you
try to use the system with all these open at once, the screen gets very
cluttered and yet they complement each other so well. I was going to try to
redesign the Backplot window to sit vertically down the right hand side of
the screen in the unused space when the TKEmc window is not maximised but I
haven't even been able to get into the appropriate code yet - so much for my
technical abilities!! Do you think there is any way the MDI editing appalet
could be merged with the TKEMC GUI so that, in MDI mode, the whole of the
lower display area where 'auto' files are usually displayed, could be used
for MDI text entry?

As to being able to crash the machine from afar by simple text entry, I
assume you will have already come across the 'Irish Virus' - if not the
email it comes as is as below (quite safe in the hands of all but 'experts')
