Success building cvs sources

Hi,

I found the reason for my problem. Just never try to compile the cvs tree with
older make versions ( mine was make-3.77 ). It works for emc-1.17, but not for
the cvs tree.
I got make-3.79.1 from prep.ai.mit.edu in /pub/gnu/make and compiled and
installed - all problems gone away ...
