My homing woes

I had to try something even if it was wrong so I completely deleted all the
EMC directories and downloaded the sources and recompiled everything.  No
Joy - but I did find some repeatability to the problem if any of you
developers care to try this.
In the ini: backlash = 0.014  Homing_offset = 0.1 Display = TkEmc

Start EMC
F1 F2 - machine is on
MDI mode enter g20 -inch mode - then go back to manual mode
X axis is selected hit the home button
X axis homes properly hits the sw, then backs off 0.1"
Set jog increment to .001" and hit jog button once
X AXIS MOVES 0.023 NOT .001 ! (the backlash should have already been taken
out when it reversed direction on the switch - the jog is in the same
direction it just traveled - (Home_Offset))
Now hit the home button again
X axis hits the home switch AND OFFSETS 0.114
IT IS ADDING THE BACKLASH TO THE HOME_OFFSET EVERY TIME IT HOMES!
The next home will offset 0.128 then 0.142 then 0.156 and so on.
I think the soft limits are moving too.

I'd love to see this fixed but it's beyond my ability...
