Hi Peter,
I have not used the dos version, but the complaint looks suspiciously like
you need to set up an environment variable... you will have to look in the
docs.
It appears that the program is trying to build up the full pathname for
building the directory structure and putting files on the right place on
your disk. Its possible it could also be complaining about something on the
server side... maybe the cvs server was down. I know the problem with usb
stuff, from a technical side, I have never seen a peripheral interface that
has caused so many headaches. It definitely seems to have been designed by
committee :}
I have a usb webcam and a usb scanner, and I shudder each time I build a new
kernel. Sometimes they work and sometimes they dont...

Perhaps Will could post a snapshot on sourceforge of a recent view of the
cvs... this has caused problems for quite a few people I have talked with.
Your other choice is to grab the Aug 11 set. This will at least get you up
and running although there were a few build problems and some motion
blending problems with that release.
