June was a long time ago but I seem to remember having a similar problem.
Some intermediate file was not getting built properly so the task
directory make did not complete. You might try the source tar,
emc-0.9-25.src.tgz.
www.linuxcnc.org/Dropbox/emc-0.9-25.src.tgz
These later versions, august from the sourceforge site and sept from
linuxcnc.org compile both the emc and rcslib stuff and should work fine on
the combination that you have. The earlier releases compiled the emc
stuff but used a binary install of the rcslib.
As Jon pointed out finding a compile error can be a problem so Will and
crew at Nist created a set of error.log files that are written by the
install on these later releases. These make it easier to troubleshoot any
compile problems. When an ./install has completed, these files will be in
the same directory from which the install was run.--
