Yes, me too.
I've been lurking on this EMC project for sometime. In the summer I like
to get outside and in the winters I like to be in(Computing...).
I would like to be of use on this project. I can't afford a expensive
cad/cam package like Surfcam or even Bob-cat. I have been writing c and c++
progams for a couple of years now.
The things I don't about c:
1. debugging a c program.
2. c and c++ pointers.
3. passing variables to routines.
4. understanding others programs(emc.c).
5. the difficulty of working with strings.
so... I thought I'd study & learn java. However most of the posts say that
java is too slow. That's a big one, but is it really true? I wrote a
copied a short example to write 1*10^6 random numbers and then sort them
and it didn't take it very long. And java does support threads which means
things could be going on while the program is waiting for input. Also the
java compiler is free as is the gnu c, but not (Visual c++).
Then too if tk/tcl is used(I have no experience here) it doesn't care what
language is used.
I think for this project to be succeed it needs:
Group leader(s) (no more than three).
What is needed by the most.
A clear descripion of the program.
A block diagram.
Clear descriptions of each module(including in and out).
And I agree with Terry, there should be no personal attacks on anybody's
input.
