As some of you have probably heard, Sherline demonstrated their prototype CNC
mill at the recent NAMES show in Southgate MIchigan USA. The PC runs the
EMC! The installation for the show was a slightly modified BDI 2.18.
Sherline is still working on the configuration of the final version.
This note will introduce Mike Joyce who has recently joined this list and has
become a developer at the EMC project on sourceforge. Mike has taken the
responsibility for the final development and deployment of the Sherline CNC.
He has worked for several years with open-source operating systems and
projects.
Mike has indicated a willingness and an ability to host some pages on one of
his USA sites so perhaps there will soon be more than one link available for
downloads of the BDI and the handbooks in their various forms. This will no
doubt be a relief to several existing webmasters. I'm sure that Mike will
fill us in on the details as he gets set up.
Ray
