EMC Handbook

I have setting on my desk a printout of a PDF version of the handbook.
It is dated 18th August 2002.

I have on my screen the online version of the handbook from linuxcnc.org.
It says GPLD copyright  2001, with no history or other indication of when
it
was last updated.

The two documents have significant differences in their structures and
contents.  The online version has some detailed documentation that is
not in the PDF version, yet the PDF version seems more recent.

Which of these documents is the current one?  Is one of them an orphan?
I was under the impression that the PDF and HTML versions were based
on the same "source".
