Running-Timer

Season's Greetings Folks!

Has anyone incorporated a accumulating timer to keep track of the amount of
time a machine is on?  I would like to keep track of this in a way that
would permit EMC and/or the PC to be shut down and rebooted, and still
retain the accumulated running time of the machine under control.  In my
application of Emc there is only one machine being controlled.  I have Emc
auto start when the PC is booted (machine operator logs in as root when
prompted of course), so the timer value would need to be loaded along with
Emc.  This timer wouldn't need to be machine specific in my case, ( if this
makes things any easier ) only the machine on/off function would start/stop
this timer.
