For a three axis machine, I would disagree with you - It should be almost
trivial to use the upper few IO lines by user space programs (such as
bridgeportio). As long as emcmot is not using these lines, no race conditions
will exist. The only area of contention would be setting up the direction of
the port chosen. But with carefull planning, this will not be an issue.
