greetings all:
i am trying to use a netplinace iopener to run emc (iop is legal, v1,
pre-contract). i had windo$e, rehdat 7.0, and a midori on the sandisk
running on it before, all managed by lilo installed to the mbr of the hd.
pulled the hard disk put it into a desktop. repartitioned the hd and
installed xosl on it. installed bdi custom mode. put lilo on the boot
partition, not mbr. re-booted bdi no problems from xosl. put hd back into
the iopener, then when booting to linux-emc, i get a continuous scrolling
screen full of 0's. i can not find this error code anywhere.
i remeber in my rh-axp days, a similar error using milo was caused by a
serial port error due to a connected modem being turned on. the iopener has
a daughter card modem, could this be my problem? not sure if i can pull the
modem out w/out loosing any functionality. tried to disable the com ports in
the bios, no luck.
if anyone had sucessfully installed bdi on an iopener, i would appreciate
any tips.
one thought i had was to try and bootstrap (? term)lilo off of the xosl
partition like using a dos directory which lives under 1024 cyl limit.
thoughts?
since the iopener does not have a floppy, to get a linux floppy boot disk, i
think i need to create another partition on the hd and rawwrite it to that
to try and get into the bdi install to tweak lilo.conf. advice?
otherwise, i think i will go back to a stock distro and try and roll my own
emc. something i am not looking forward to doing.
another thought i had was to just run midori off the sandisk and nfs another
linux box running emc, but i havn't tried to read up on that. pointers to
doing something like this anywhere?
