Re: CNC class
CNC standard.... NOW that's a dirty word...
Most of the time the long travel of the machine is X
I have run a Lathe where the carriage was X & Z (I think that is a standard
too...)
Most of the time G00 is rapid (both axis' get to the programmed point but
not necesarily coordinated)
G01 - coordinated straight line move.
G02 G03 Arcs - I have seen clockwise defined from the bottom of the machine
and from the top.
G04 dwell.
M00 - Program stop
M01 - Optional stop
M02 - End of program
M30 - End of program - rewind to the "%" sign
"%" used to be the required start of program so the controll could read past
the man-readable leaders on the old paper tapes. (made great streamers for
RC model aiplanes for dog fights...)
I have seen machines where G10, ,11,12,13 or g20,21,22,23 replaced
G00,01,02,03 But with some additional accuracy (or not...)
Most of the other codes were dependent on a combination of the control
manufacturer and the machine tool builder with some of the codes changing
from year to year. ( i worked at a shop with 2 identical slantbed chuckers
and the program tapes were not interchangeable...)
There was more standardization after Fanuc hit the market but I think that
GE screwed that up when they bought into that series.
What kind of controls are your students gong to be working with - get a look
at thier programming manuals for those machines and form a curriculum from
that.
