you could use the four button inputs with an encoder pulse generator
and a jog increment selector knob something like this

this could be built into a seperate module and called from the user
interface only when entering manual mode
it would need some code to communicate with the normal software 
interface to the jog functions you could probably lift most of the 
functions from one of the regular GUIs
