the new guy

Hey there,

I'm abosolutely brand new to this list. In fact, I think that I subscribed
only 10 or 15 minutes before I started writing this first post.

Basically I'm really new to the whole Home CNC thing and EMC as well. I
must say that I'm looking foreward to the information that I get from this
list. From what I gather, a sizeable group from the cad cam edm dro list is
also represented on this list as well. If the experience that I gain on
this list is anything close to the things that I have learned on the other
list, I have a really fun ride ahead of me.

I don't want to ramble on too long but for my first post I thought It would
be a good idea to give a little bio on who I am and why I joined this list.
My name is Scot Rogers. I'm 34 years old and I live in Sacramento CA.
Currently I'm a sole proprieter of a really wierd business that lends itself
to using cnc devices to manufacture things. My business is called Sub-Q,
it's a body piercing studio. The cnc machines that I'm currently buying and
building are to manufacture jewelry for my studio and for wholesale.

The reasons that I joined this list is a little more for "the love of the
game" (cnc) and because I believe that NIST has something worth sticking
with in EMC. I recently fell in love with the Linux operating system and I
have a master plan to be as free as possible of non open source software as
I can by the beginning of the year 2003.

Like I was saying before, EMC is worth sticking with. I'm amazed at what It
can do already and I don't even have it on a mill or a lathe yet. I've only
fooled around with it a bit. But I'm blown away at the possiblities.

Sorry for the long rant, I hope this ride is long (funding for EMC). And
thanks to the entire team that put EMC together, I think you changed my
life.

Give me open source, or give me open sores.

Scot Rogers
