Aiee is a kernel message that usually means something very bad has
happened. Often means the software is not getting on with the
hardware.
After a successful fsck then fresh boot, consider running dmesg, eg
dmesg > boot.log
and sending the resultant boot.log, which is the guff the kernel spits out
when booting.
It could be interesting to see what the kernel thinks its running on.
Crashes are fortunately very rare when the hardware is good and the
kernel understands it. 2.2.18 will run and work for years happily,
( well, without rt-linux it will certainly)
