OK, how do I make kwrite the default editor?

I use kwrite.  You can try it by selecting open and type kwrite in the open
with window.  Once there, you should turn off word wrap under options
->options menu.  You can leave wrap cursor on.

I suspect that it wrapped a line on you and Tcl/Tk didn't know what to do
with the line.  If, after you've edited some tcl, you start the emc from a
terminal rather than an icon, it should show you about where the error is
by putting up a very crytpic message in the terminal window.

There is a way to make kwrite the default editor for tcl if you decide you
like it.
