Hello David,

so your installation comes to an instant halt, no reactions anymore, did I
understand that correctly? No responses from the kernel anymore, not even with
magic-sysrq keys, no switching between consoles, no moving mouse pointer, no
reaction on the screen while pressing some keys ?
Try disabling the CPU's L2 cache just for installation in the BIOS, I once had a
machine where this was necessary just to get past the inital installation phase,
otherwise it would just freeze.
