How do you "tune" EMC for stepper motors?

I seem to be having a problem getting things set correctly for EMC to
drive my stepper motors.  I have had success setting up DeskNC to work
correctly with my Camtronics 5AMP controllers and my Sherline Mill.

It works fine with DeskNC, the speeds are good and motion is smooth but
I can't seem to get EMC tuned correctly for smooth motion and acceptable
speed.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
