EMC List

This is a brief summary of the activities of the emc gui committee to
03/01/2000.  Current committee members are listed, others are welcome to
join or to offer assistance on specific projects.  To join just say so on
emc-at-nist.gov or contact a member listed below and someone will send you
your secret decoder ring.  To offer assistance just get in touch with the
contact listed for that specific project.

As of the emc-29-Feb-2000 release all of the completed modifications as
listed below have been built in.  We will soon have future trial versions
of some files on the dropbox.  

If you have additions, bugs, features, feedback, or comments, come ahead
with 'em.

TKEMC BUG FIXES

Bug - Cut and Paste in genedit while nc program is making parts.

	May also be fixable by sending last mdi feedrate with mode change. 

Bug - emc_task_plan_init does not reset some codes though it reports that
it does

TKEMC FEATURE ADDITION

Feature - Expand editor with Number/Renumber and Find and Replace

Feature - Graphical tool path display

Status Update - Version 2 in process to support A B & C axis.

Feature - Actual feedrate display

Status - solution multiplies feedrate in gcodes by override percent
	  and displays product.  Need to clarify feedrate problems with 
	  mode change and look ahead.

Feature - Popups disappear behind top window
Contact - DF
Status - fix to file dialog closes both popups when file selected in browse.
	- proposed solution makes a container on the screen.
	Popups show within the gui rather than layered above/below it.
	This may become an alternate tkgui. Will advertize for input.
	
Feature - Metric entry and position display for folk east of the pond

Status - Would be easier to impliment if EMC took care of G70 G71.

Feature - Real spindle speed display.

Status - Looking at possibilities for rotary spindle feedback

Feature - Multiple blocks in MDI
Contact - RH
Status - Discussed possible separators (~, ;, #, null, "word")
	Will not be a feature of standard interpreter so a gui
	routine is good to go.

Feature - Teach/build programming function

XEMC/YEMC SPINOFF

Feature - Motif facelift to x guis that runs with Lesstif calls.

Status - 

Phase 1 Plans to change appearance of existing gui. This will keep the same 
functionality and layout but give professional HMI look.

Phase 2 Alternate presentations of top-level including x, y, and rotary axis.

Phase 3 Touch screen based top-level.

Phase 4 Add color pixmaps for some buttons and displays -- snazy is the op 
word here.
