Re: test results
Hi Ray,
thanks for the invitation, I will make sure that I will not miss the NAMES
this year.
how far Southfield is from Dearborn, and am not sure when the NAMES is??
the egg shape is caused by the scaling mismatch which is normally a machine
error
but I can't absolutely say that because of the size of the ballbar that I
used. the general rule here
is that when the ballbar is long (radius is 15 cm or longer) that would
generally indicate more machine problems
than controller problems, but when the radius of the circle is relatively
small ( 1.5 cm) it would indicate problems
with the controller more than the geometry of the machine, because it will
be hard for the controller to process a small circles relative to
large circles for the same feed rate.
now the ballbar that I used is a 5 cm ...I can't test with a larger one
because the machine is small.
but I like the Idea of changing the input scale to overcome the scaling
mismatch, but am afraid that this will cause
another problems with other errors...like the backlash compensation. but I
will certainly try that and test again.
my first priority now is to fix the mismatch problem because renishaw
software is not that smart do distinguish between the
errors except for certain criteria's that would also be induced from one
error...in other words the scaling mismatch might
be inducing a squareness error ( clockwise rotation of the egg shape), the
first role that I learned in the ballbar training course is to fix
the most obvious error and test again.
Regards
Hassan
