Re: Slightly OT linux dummy question

Richard,

I have done extended testing on multi-boot and multi-physical disks and
RH 7.3 with LILO as bootmanager (instead of GRUB) give the best result
in regard to EMC. The 1024 cilinder issue is not a problem anymore. LILO
because the howto's explain how to alter your kernel to realtime and
boot into the new compiled realtime kernel. If you chose GRUB you have
to check out a lot of doc's outside of the standard which come along
with the EMC.
If your system is used by others with M$, the diskette boot option is a
good one because they will not be able to boot into your linux.
Otherwise just follow the RH 7.3 install questions carefully. Even the
automatic partitioning is very safe to use as I have experienced.
even if you have the bootrecord on one physical disk and linux on
another one, LILO manages it perfectly. This mail is proof. I have win
98 on primary 30 Gig HD and RH7.1 on secondary 4 Gig HD and it boots
with LILO, as it should.

No problem as you can see.

Yes that is the way to go. Expert is not really neccessary,

Good luck,

Chris
