I agree - it may be a bad choice for this application.
On the other hand, it runs at approx. 2 ghz -  near microwave.
Also, running TCP, it will retransmit  - there won't be any lost packets,
remember
what TCP IP was conceived for? I'm sure that people who designed wireless
also made it very robust, so who knows, it may perform better then the wired
one,
since the length of the wire may pick up lots of EMF.
This is just a suggestion, never tried it.
