Re: Setting up EMC

Terry,

First off, I'm far from an expert here, but some things we can try.

What version are you running? BDI V.?

One thing you should try is to start EMC from the command line,
this will let you see any error codes you are recieving, and why
EMC will not start up. Do this by clicking on the icon of the
computer monitor with the shell in front of it. That will open a
command line type window. Type in the following, without the
quotes of course, and hit enter.

"cd /usr/local/emc" This will change to the emc directory

"./emc.run" Note the dot slash.

or

"./generic.run"

Report back with any error messages

Your settings will be changed in the emc.ini file or the generic.ini
file depending on what run file you use to start emc. You can access
these in the emc directory using the file manager. click on the ini file
you wish to edit and it should open an editor window. Your steps per
inch will be under the variables "input scale". More on that after we get
you up and running or you can check out the handbook (a work in
progress) at www.linuxcnc.org
