Hmm.... A device is needed that will count quadrature pulses and return an
incremental value when polled. It also needs to be cheap and able to handle
two or even three encoders. How about an EM83702 or equivalent ?
This chip is very common, and is nearly always found with two low resolution
encoders attached. Just look at the mouse in your hand <g>.
