I don't really have a clue about IRIX, but "Arg list too long" usually means
that
a) The command line is too long to be processed by a program / shell
b) The command line contains too much parameters

Since you seem to be building EMC in a really long path, maybe it helps, if
you build it in a "shorter" path (f.e. /home/rcslib). Trying another shell
implementation might also help.
