Can EMC motion planning handle big amounts of data?



Hi folks,

I'm very interested in EMC, but still figuring out, if it would suit the
needs. I want to use EMC to control a plotter-like device with only 2
axisses (X/Y), with a stg card, servos and encoders, using the PID module.
Since the original data are splines or other complicated figures, the
generated G-Code programs are likely to be big and consist of several
thousand line segments, each of them very small. Has anyone done similar
programs on an EMC machine and can tell me, how the performance is? I'm
afraid, that EMC will stop after each line segment (I've seen this with
commercial controllers, too). Are there any settings (in the EMC.INI file or
in source files) that may affect the performance and/or accuracy of the
axisses in this special case?
