No - One of the attractions of Tcl/Tk is it will run on Macs, Windows, Linux
and others. An X-terminal is not a prerequisite for Tcl (tcl does not even
require a window envionment). Tk on the other hand, does require Windows or
better (linux + X <g>).
Although Tcl/Tk is far from the 'best' language - especially for maths
intensive tasks - It is easily ported to other operating systems. For
interfacing to EMC or any other control system, about the only thing that would
require changing would be the emcwish.
