Thanks for the info. I now have home and limit switches working in
principle - not actually attached to the machine yet. I now understand how
the homing process works and feel silly for asking such basic questions!
;o{ Rather than using an optical disk on the motor shaft I was considering
the method of gating the switch with a puse to the motor. Someone was going
to use this method I seem to remember but I can't remember who - if you see
this, did it work?? I did wonder whether this would, in fact, be accurate
enough or whether the motor was likely to sometimes skip the first gating
pulse and so land up 4 steps further on. Again I probably have to try it to
find out - but not today, I'm now boss-eyed from soldering up a new
connecting lead - 50 connections of wire I could hardly see!
