compiled for better speed or standalone execution

in the free Qt library (of KDE fame)

and there is a new framebuffer port of GTK+/Gnome that also

becomes an embedded controler rather than a normal desktop 
enviroment or development system
the added speed,ram and mass storage found on the PC is 
a bonus of course ;-)
