some not so random pointers on recent topics
Tcl/tk can be integrated into C/C++ programs and
compiled for better speed or standalone execution
http://www.hwaci.com/sw/mktclapp/mktclapp.html
and keeps y'all Tcl developers from having to throw
out everything youve learned for another language
and some links to Internationalization (i18n) info
http://www.li18nux.org/
http://www.gnome.org/i18n/
http://i18n.kde.org/
there is built in Internationalization support
in the free Qt library (of KDE fame)
http://www.trolltech.com/products/download/freelicense/
Qt or Qt/Embedded Free editions
released under QPL, and GPL Open Source license
the embedded version can be run without X they even have
some demo floppy images to try out(aimed at pda development)
and there is a new framebuffer port of GTK+/Gnome that also
runns without X (search http://www.gnome.org/)
and for the cross refrence or file relationships idea (a good one BTW)
there are several code documentation programs available
check out
http://freshmeat.net/appindex/development/
under tools you'l find
http://freshmeat.net/projects/cbrowser/
http://freshmeat.net/projects/cpp2html/
http://freshmeat.net/projects/lxr/
http://freshmeat.net/projects/doxygen/
and many others
most IDEs (I use Kdevelop/KDK) will do some of this for you
another good site to look at is
http://www.linuxdevices.com/
once EMC is started and running a machine the PC basicly
becomes an embedded controler rather than a normal desktop
enviroment or development system
the added speed, ram and mass storage found on the PC is
a bonus of course ;-)
