Re[4]: emc really needs a copyleft cad/cam package
hello;
i did not mean to be so quiet today, but i have
been busy with fixing the java code in emc/rcslib,
cleaning up my perl scripts which take 2d xfig
drawings and generate 3d drawings.
like jeff i started out programming back when
paper tape was the normal. i can still remember
coding my old s100 bus machine through the front
panel switches. like anne, i have been on projects
which were doomed from the start because there was
no design document to follow or go to for guidance.
i have also been on projects where no line of code
shall be written till the weight of design documents
matches the weight of all the developers. neither of
the extremes works. it seems we have all been there
done that and have absolutely no desire to do it again.
briefly my background.
like jeff close to the metal. device drivers,
bsb 4.X kernel hacking, linux kernel hacking (5+ years),
xfree86 volunteer programmer for 3 years, hacking x-servers.
graphics programming, and medical imaging systems programming.
(taking cat scan and mri images and creating a 3d representation).
cellular telephone site coverage modelling.

i need to know who and what i am
