Re: Re[2]: problems with mbuff in rtlinux-2.3

hello;

one way would be to have a terminal window open
and running 'top'.

<begin top example>
  5:42pm  up 16 days,  7:55,  9 users,  load average: 0.01, 0.01, 0.00
55 processes: 54 sleeping, 1 running, 0 zombie, 0 stopped
CPU states: 0.0% user, 2.5% system, 1.1% nice, 96.3% idle
Mem:    62316K av,   56372K used,    5944K free,   17436K shrd,    2660K buff
Swap:  235576K av,   34312K used,  201264K free                   21832K cached
<end   top example>

check the 'Swap:' line.
if the third number, free swap, is getting close to 0 (zero)
the machine is thrashing. as the third number heads toward
zero the second/middle number is heading to match the first
number. the more a machine needs to swap the slower it will
become.
