I don't know if this is causing Jon's problem, but I noticed that the
lube controller defaults its output bit to index 9. If you have
something on index 9, in my case it was SPINDLE_INCREASE_INDEX, then it
collides with the lube controller with weird symptoms. In my case when I
went from manual to auto, the spindle speed increased.

The workaround is to set [EMCIO] LUBE_WRITE_INDEX = <unused value>

If this is omitted, and you have something on index 9, you're in
trouble.
