Re: EMC on a 386 and a remote TkEMC under Win98?

Scott, after having used EMC and the related software for
over a year, I have come to the conclusion that there are
very few of us that want to become Linux/EMC guru's. The
main reason of the real-time operation is why linux was
chosen, and windows cannot supply that. You will notice
that any of the Windows motion control software has the
advice of running only that program. I sure would not want
windows to start house cleaning in the middle of my 2 hour
project!

Should be, maybe it is, I didn't find it to be.

I did that, it didn't work. Tcl reported multiple errors as I ran the
Tkemc.tcl
I looked at the script and the first line is:

#!/bin/sh
# the next line restarts using autoemc \
exec /usr/local/nist/emc/plat/linux_2_0_36/bin/autoemc "$0" "$-at-"

So the Tkemc.tcl that comes with the EMC distribution is obviously for
linux. Which is why I've asked and tried to get the tkemc.exe referered to
at http://www.isd.mel.nist.gov/projects/emc/wintkemc.html
Learning Tcl in addition to setting up a linux box, configuring EMC and the
rest is just too much fun when I can run Kcam3 (from
http://hometown.aol.com/drigotti/HobbyCNC.htm ).

I hate being dependant on lame Micro$oft ware, but there aren't enough
hours
in a day to learn 3 different languages.
