Well in case anyone is interested I got EMC working with
RH 6.0 and the prepatched kernal 2.0. It was really quite
easy once I got by the first 3 tries. I screwed up the first
3 times, it wasn't linux's fault. Total time to install the
patch and EMC on the last try was about 30 min. RH 6.0 went ok
on the first try. Here are a couple of tips that might help.
1) Don't use a newer rt patch than 2.0 since the install script
for EMC refrences certain directories that will be named something
else.
2) Do follow the directions located here - http://pc2075.psi.ch/~mirko/
for installing the prepatched kernal.
3) When running xconfig, or whatever you use to configure your kernal,
make sure that
a) realtime is enabled
b) APM is disabled
c) DOS FAT is enabled if you want to load your part programs
from a DOS disk.
4) Install RH 6.0 using the workstation install, no need to load any
other files. (I loaded KDE Window manager using RPM because I wanted
it not because I needed it)
Good Luck
Bill
