Ian,

My computer makes it through the LILO part of booting and loads
everything apparently normally then freaks out at the point it needs the
name and password. I plan to reload everything later today. I haven't
found a "magic bullet" to fix this one yet. Sigh....

Thanks for all the help guys!

I won't let this one hang around and become a pet.
