While the SO and I were playing in the snow on the lake -- frozen,
beautiful sunshine, +30 -- I got to thinking about a window that would
popup when tar was done and you typed in
<./install>.
(Must have been the slush ball to the side of my head)
This popup would allow the user to preconfigure a number of the individual
characteristics of the final compiled EMC. Why? You say!
1. - Tom Kramer said the new RS274NGC would be compile-able for up to six
axis.
set up number of axis in interpreter, ini, and gui.
2. - Selected platform could be entered into all relevant files.
maybe one download could compile for all releases.
3. - Machine type to run - mill - lathe - hexapod - robot - vehicle - other.
4. - Perhaps a smaller emc
5. - ??
I don't imagine this screen taking the place of the ini or run file but it
would touch those files and make them aware of the pre-conditions that you
want set. Or it could even create some of those files from canned
text/code using the pre-conditions.
This program would also need to touch the make files and set up some
conditions there as well. Default values could be setup elsewhere so that
you'd get the full Monty if there was no useful answer from Tkconfig.
I know very little about how to do this, except the Tk screen and some of
the code for replication of axis number in the ini and tkemc. I have no
idea how difficult it would be to do within the make files.
