I know nothing about Linux, but I used an old copy (v2.04) of BDI,
read the instructions, did the raw thing (rawrite?), tossed the floppy
into my computer, BDI in the CD reader, and could run EMCsim within a
hour. Anyone who knows me knows I'm not in the faint hearted group. My
mother may have raised some ugly kids, but she didn't raise any dumb
ones. If I can use a $10 CD to get EMC going, I'm gonna spend the ten
bucks. Learning Linux can come later.

After playing around I know what this quote means.

Later,

P.S. What's the secret code to get BDI v2.04 to see a floppy?
