OK:

Ball screws rated for 10 inches per second
5 rev per inch

therefore 50 rev per second should get me where I want to go.

The Zeta drives are set to 5,000 steps per revolution. The motors are rated for 200.

If the Zeta are set up and tuned to run those motors and that load, I'd
stick with them.  If one burns out that's a different story.  There is also
a pulse rate problem that may influence your decision.

IMHO - This 250,000 steps/sec will be a non-starter.   The emc is
advertized to 5k and some folk get 3-5 times that.   Even the thought is
boggling.  Could you describe your machine, motors, gearing, feedback,
and such.
