Re: This weekend..

Hi Anders,

If you can get RH5.2 up and running on one of your drives, don't try and
start from nothing again. Just get the realtime patch (rtlinux_09J I think)
which I think is in Tim's install set, and build a new Kernel. Just put this
file in /usr/src/ and put a new set of kernel headers in /usr/src/linux (if
you get the .tgz file from http://www.kernel.org and untar it 'tar -xzvf
linux-*.tgz', it will put them there. Then you can do an xconfig and follow
the instructions to build and install the kernel - its all in the RedHat
help files and the instruction sheet on Tim's site. This is the best way to
go because you always have a working machine to go back to if things go
wrong and you can just alter things in maybe one file rather than having to
reload everything. I have had EMC running on a computer with windows95 also
for some time now and I've had no problems. I've also rebuilt the kernel a
number of times to change it when I've added new hardware etc. and it really
isn't as difficult as it looks. Good luck,

Ian
